Development of Dust Collectors to Reduce Brake Wear PM Emissions

چکیده

In this study, two different dust collectors, one based on an inertial separator and the other electrostatic precipitator (ESP), were developed in order to reduce brake wear particulate matter (PM) emissions. Additionally, collection efficiencies for particles (BWPs) of ESP evaluated according pad type. case separator, BWP low-metallic (LM) non-asbestos organic (NAO) pads similar, cut-off size at 50% efficiency (D50) was 2.2 µm. The designed without additional charging device because naturally induced occurred due friction between disc pad. higher NAO than LM BWPs generated from contained a relatively low iron (Fe) component compared that pad, thereby generating more frictional electricity. maximum determined be 60% 75%, respectively, remaining not collected presumed frictionally charged.

Brake wear particle emissions: a review

Traffic-related sources have been recognized as a significant contributor of particulate matter particularly within major cities. Exhaust and non-exhaust traffic-related sources are estimated to contribute almost equally to traffic-related PM10 emissions. Non-exhaust particles can be generated either from non-exhaust sources such as brake, tyre, clutch and road surface wear or already exist in ...

The policy relevance of wear emissions from road transport, now and in the future--an international workshop report and consensus statement.

UNLABELLED Road transport emissions are a major contributor to ambient particulate matter concentrations and have been associated with adverse health effects. Therefore, these emissions are targeted through increasingly stringent European emission standards. These policies succeed in reducing exhaust emissions, but do not address "nonexhaust" emissions from brake wear, tire wear, road wear and ...
